Meet our new chief nursing officer

We're excited to welcome Chris Courtney DNP, RN, NEA-BC, as the Chief Nursing Officer for MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center. Chris brings more than 35 years of nursing experience, including over a decade at the executive level. Chris holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice from Capella University, a Master of Science in Nursing from Loyola University and a Bachelor of Arts in Management from Webster University in St. Louis. With her vast experience and deep commitment to nursing excellence, she's dedicated to building a culture of collaboration, support and innovation at MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center.

Nursing leadership opportunities

Cardiac Telemetry Nurse Manager 

  • Ideally, three to five (3-5) years of combined clinical and leadership experience.
  • Candidates with inpatient experience within the past five (5) years are preferred.
  • Leaders must be willing to step in when needed and understand the 24/7 nature of leadership roles.
  • A strong desire to foster a positive, engaged team culture.

Neuro Trauma ICU Nurse Manager 

  • Ideally, three to five (3-5) years of combined clinical and leadership experience.
  • Candidates with inpatient experience within the past five (5) years are preferred.
  • Leaders must be willing to step in when needed and understand the 24/7 nature of leadership roles.
  • A strong desire to foster a positive, engaged team culture.
  • Experience in ICU required; previous experience in the unit is a plus but not mandatory.
